As a teacher and coach, I've found that there is a need for life skills education. I experienced this myself as a young adult, realizing I knew nothing about taxes, living with a roommate, how to pay rent, how to manage my money, how to map out my education and career, amongst other things. It's important for teens to know what they want out of life and how to get there. Kids know they want to go to college, but how do they apply? How do they choose a school? How will they pay for it? Kids might want to save money, but how do they open a savings account, how will they invest money? The issue is that they don't know HOW to reach their goals, if they even have goals to begin with. Lady Sailor Soccer is beginning an Adult Workshop Series in order to fulfill this need for teens. Our mission to empower young girls (and boys, too!) to reach their greatest potential on the soccer field, in the community, and in the workforce. These workshops aim to satisfy the later part of our mission. Currently, we offer two series: Preparing for College (Fall) and Money Management (Spring). Guest speakers will present each topic.
